Two Balconies in Shropshire

In June 2019, we built two balconies for a client whom wanted to enjoy the beautiful view towards their garden. We worked with the client to solve his uncertainties around building footprint and lighting impact, resulting in a beautiful finished product.

Client Specification

The original client request was for a single balcony across the full length of the rear of the property

Design

After assessing various options, the client decided to have two balconies accessed from the two rear bedrooms.

To minimise the footprint of the second balcony which is next to a ground floor entrance, a cantilever style design was agreed.

Problem-solving

The client was concerned that shade from the cantilever balcony (pictured) would impact the natural light in the kitchen. The solution was to introduce a walk-on glass floor.

The Final Product

The final product (pictured) demonstrates the minimal building footprint of both balconies.

The cantilever balcony (left) does not obstruct the ground floor access and its walk-on glass floor minimises the shade impact in the kitchen.

Overall, a very happy client!
