About Us

We are a family business with an interest in the craft of oak framing and construction and we strive to design and produce beautiful, high quality garden outdoor oak structures.

The business was started by Kev Billington in 2014. The business is the product of a lifelong passion for oak timber framing. He loves working with oak and is always looking for innovative ways to apply his skills to design and construct unique oak structures.

We are a quintessential cottage business. We operate from our home office and workshop based near Bridgnorth in Shropshire, UK. We are developing our 1 acre site to include many of our products so that clients can visit us, see the finished structures and take in the beautiful surroundings.

Prior to creating the business, Kev worked as an engineer in the automotive industry and spent much of his professional life working in computer-aided design. He applies his extensive experience in design to his passion for timber-framing: creating and perfecting oak structures for his customers.

Kev is accompanied in the business by his wife Judith and his sons Jake and George. And don’t forget the dogs Alfie and Daisy, who you’ll see in many of our product photos.

All of our products are made-to-order and are produced by-hand in our workshop (pictured above!). Our green oak is sourced from southern France from forests which are managed sustainably.

A core design ethos of our business is the combination of traditional and contemporary. Therefore, we aim to produce designs which enhance your home by mixing ancient oak framing techniques with modern features such as glass and chrome.

We may start with simple design ideas but we want to work with our clients in a way which they feel part of the design and development journey. This leads to a finished product which can sometimes be very different to the initial idea discussed (see our past projects section for examples of this) and a happy client who knows that they are getting something handmade and unique.
