Frequently asked questions

The below details answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you have a query which is not answered in the below, feel free to get in touch via our contact form!

Can you provide your products in any size?

Yes, every product is made-to-order. Please contact us via our contact form and we can discuss your requirements.

How can I be sure my design is right for my property?

There is a myriad of ideas and designs available, so we want you to be confident that you have made the right choice. We offer a no obligation series of images that show your design superimposed into a photograph of your property. These are high quality photo realistic images that help you visualise how your design would look. Visit here for more information.

What is included in the product?

This very much depends on the product and what the customer is looking for. For our balconies and gazebos, we usually provide a tailor-made service so that you don’t have to find third parties or source your own materials (for example, glass and decking). For our porches, however, our clients usually have their own builders and roofers, so we provide the oak frame only. See our product information pages for more information.

How are your oak structures finished?

Every one of our oak components (posts and beams etc.) is planed and, where necessary, sanded. This ensures a smooth, tactile finish and a clean appearance.

Do I need planning permission for my product?

This depends on the product. Porches and gazebos within certain size limits are permissive developments and do not require planning permission. However, all balconies, or “raised platforms”, will require planning permission. It is always best to contact your local planning office prior to placing an order for a balcony.

What is the best treatment for my oak structure?

This is simply down to your personal choice and how you would like to see your structure mature over time. Not applying any treatment will allow the colour to gradual mature to a grey / silver matt finish. Alternatively, we recommend using Osmo UV Protection Oil which will maintain (and enhance) the natural straw colour of the oak.

Can I paint my structure?

All of our structures are made from oak. Oak will crack and split over time as it dries. Standard paints are therefore not recommended. There are specialist timber treatments which still maintain the visual appearance of the timber such as Osmo UV Protection Oil.

Do you deliver?

Yes, we can deliver. There is a delivery charge which will depend on your location and the size/weight of your structure. The delivery charge will be confirmed within the quotation pack.

How long are your delivery lead times?

This will depend on the product. Our smaller items, including most porches and log stores, will take between 3 and 4 weeks. Whereas our larger items, including most balconies and gazebos, will take between 6 and 10 weeks. We order the oak as soon as the order is confirmed, which can take 2 weeks to arrive at our workshop.
